I am with you Archiver, I hate gif as well, it's about time they came out with a new format, why not animated png files, that would be great

Edit: seems I am a bit slow, looks like there is already apng (animated png) https://people.mozilla.com/~dolske/apng/demo.html

Edit 2: For 24-bit/32-bits APNG: In Photoshop (File - Export - Render Video), then use apngasm. Checked method.
