You are correct but before you even attempt that you are going to need at least a Coolermaster V6GT or equivalent cooling system. You'd be better off getting a newer chip but if you really want to attempt this I can point you to a post I made, well better yet I will just copy and past my post into this thread and I suggest you read it thoroughly. I take no responsibility if you fry your chip though....
Things have changed a lot since I posted this and as of today I run an i7 2600k @4.8ghz 24/7 and contrary to what some might believe my CPU will not be burning out anytime soon because I have proper cooling etc etc and I watch my temps at all times. Anyway here you go mate: scratch that, I will have to post it somewhere else because it is over the character limit in a post. I will edit this and give you the link.
