Hello fellow gear heads!

Just found a new playtoy - running Linux Ubuntu right off a thumbdrive. Sure, one could always partition one's main drive; but if you're like me and don't want to take the chance of royally screwing things up; this is a no brainer. Go to ubuntu.com, follow the super-easy instructions; reboot into your BIOS to tell your system which drive to boot from - and away you go!

I haven't tried it yet, but one can eliminate the BIOS step by installing Linux on a CD; which the system will boot into by default. Deal is, with a CD probably can't do downloads, I wouldn't think as it would have to write onto the CD itself being the O/S drive...?

have fun!
