How To Move Command Bar / Folder Band To The Bottom Of The Explorer Window

How To Move Command Bar / Folder Band
To The Bottom Of The Explorer Window

    1. You need to edit the c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll file, so take ownership of file and copy it to your desktop.

    2. Now open the copy of shell32.dll that is now on your desktop in Restorator.

    3. Go to UIFILE, click on it and scroll down to key 12 , hit f6 to enter edit mode.

    4. Now in line 3 of key 12 find this text layoutpos="Top".

    5. Change "Top" to "Bottom" and hit f8 to commit changes.

    6. Now scroll to key 27 and in line 2 find the same text and replace "Top" with "Bottom", hit f8 to commit the change.

    7. Now do the same in keys 28 and 46(same line and text as in 27 key).

    8. Now in Restorator go up to file and select save as and save as shell32.dll.

    9. Now rename the original shell32.dll file in the System32 folder to shell32.dll.old.

    10. Copy your modified shell32.dll from your desktop file to the system32 folder.

    11. Restart your computer, and voila your command bar / folder band is on bottom of your Windows Explorer windows.

If you do not have Restorator you can use Resource Hacker which is pretty straight forward to use. Just take ownership of shell32.dll, copy to your desktop, open in Resource Hacker, edit the lines mentioned above, save changes, go back to system32, rename shell32.dll to shell32.dll.old, now copy shell32.dll from the desktop to system32, restart and you will see your command bar / folder band at the bottom of your explorer windows.
