his program is meant to create tile to the windows 8 start screen.

I created this in vb.net using SharpDevelop, it works for all programs/folder/files and even websites.

The program will store the image files inside the folder "C:\Program Files\OblyTile" and create the Shortcut .LNK file inside the StartMenu folder.

If you want to delete a Tile, right click it on the startmenu and select "Remove From Start" on the left bottom side.

  • Added support for others "primary" image format.
  • Added option to change text colour.
  • Added Quick List. (Thanks dAKirby309 for the tile images and for the OblyTile icon)
  • Added donation button.
  • Small Tile image is now optional.
  • Images bigger than 200kb will be auto resized to 120x120.
  • Shortcuts .lnk will now be stored on: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts (This will prevent the shortcut to be listed on alternative shell like "Start8") (Thanks HungariaHitman for the tip)
  • Improved Color Picker.
  • Improved Tile Manager. (Thanks TheDriftQueen for the help)
  • Run as administrator is now handled by the Launcher.vbs.
  • Fixed missing image when zoom-out the start screen.
  • Small changes to the Gui.
  • Experimental: Added Windows Apps to Shortcut function. (Create shortcuts on desktop to open Windows Apps, a generic icon will be used)
  • Experimental: Web browser can now be opened as Immersive. (Use the Quick List to create the tile)
Warning: Do not use "OblyTile App Launcher.exe" for external projects.

Note Issues:
  • In order to launch the Immersive mode of your web browser by using a tile made with OblyTile, be sure to close the desktop version of it.
  • If you want to use OblyTile on accounts without administrator rights, you must create the folder "OblyTile" inside C:\Program Files\ and put full access on it.
  • If the tiles are not showed properly (a normal icon is showed) open OblyTile and press the second button on top of OblyTile. (Rebuild cache)
  • If the tiles will not react when you click it (the program or file will not be opened) follow those steps VBScript - Fix

Tested on:
Windows 8 Professional Build 9200 - 32/64 Bit
Windows 8 Enterprise Build 9200 - 32/64 Bit
