About your question if i understand you right, first you need application to edit any theme explorer background (even aero default one), called Windows Style Builder (https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/), then when you load your theme in it, in this path change color fill:

Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > Items View > FillColor
