It was something that was running in the background that on my task manager was just a string of random numbers and letters, open file location led into a folder in my program files that was also named as a string of random numbers and letters

Actually I am curious if you or someone could tell me what that process is? Cause my guess is it's a virus but I don't to delete it if it's important, although ending the task in my task manager doesn't seem to cause any problems, I scanned the folder with Avast and nothing came up, just a string of random letters and numbers, like this

if killing the task doesn't cause any issues then i would leave it disabled and see if any issues arise over time. i'm apt to think if it's an odd file/folder name like that that it is something you don't want, but i think you made the right call to leave it for now just in case it fine. now you could run housecall or other online virus/malware scanners on it to give you further peace of mind.

And if it just randomly starts itself up out of nowhere? Cause this process is what prevents me from streaming non-Youtube videos, and it also seems to cause adds to pop up on Steam (Somehow) Cause Steam shouldn't do that, so my guess is it's adware

if it's popping up adds then regardless of what it's for remove it. if your security software won't remove it get a copy of move on boot and use it, but make sure you make a restore point first.
