Recommended Prior to Applying Custom Themes
Create a Restore Point
Install Fonts included in the "Extras" folder
Apply System Metrics included in the "Extras" folder and logout or reboot
Install an iPack of your choice to change the system icons (check the Theme Extras section above for a link to the icons in the preview)!
Select the Theme's Start Menu and Taskbar in the StartIsBack++ configuration. If it's not a visible option to select the theme's start menu, apply your custom theme first!
Copy a Start Orb from the "Theme" folder to a new location, rename it, then open the StartIsBack++ configuration, click Add... select the Start Orb and click Apply.

Hello. Long time lurker. Just doing my own personal theme editing stuff since windows 98/Xp. I come around about every 5 years, when i build a new system or upgrade an OS >D But this forum is basically meca for any information on theming. So thanks to all for that.

Right now i am preparing my final Win 10 build i will use until as long as i possibly can. A few things in the theme broken and some fixed some still not..just annoying things for an ocd, but that hardly matter. I've spent dozens of hours searching while fixing stuff when i came across this thread or the threads M has done on 4k support. I prepare my system and do not change anything basically for the life of a system, so basically ever 5 years i'm coming back to this to see what has changed.

Since i'm thinking forward, i do plan on possibly going to a 4k monitor later this year and i'm trying to get this build and theme ready this weekend so i can upgrade my system.

My question. What exactly is required to be sure i have my Theme be 4k compliant? Right now i'm running 2016 LTSB on a 1440p monitor at 100% scaling. When i did this theme and build, it was pretty much the same predicament for 1440p, at least since i have a 24" 1440p monitor, so it's almost like 4k in a way already in that font was super tiny. But back them i had good eyesight. Now i can't see >D But i did have to do some hacks within photoshop for dpi if i recall. I also think what i did was i made the fontsize in my theme actually larger by default to not have to use scaling at all. Kinda of met in the half way point. Worked out.

But just wondering what i need to be looking at to make sure it would be 4k complaint for the future. I've looked at some of the ported themes. It looks like there system metrics reg files, shellstyle and mui.

I guess my ultimate question is, Is there anything in the 'Theme itself' that needs to be changed? Or is it all in the dlls and reg files that makes it compatible? If so i can just be done with my theme itself and worry about the rest later if and when i go to 4k.

Thank you all so much for being dedicated hard core theme nuts. It's an absolute necessity for me. I could never use this os the way it is and has been for 20 years without theming it. In fact i theme everything if possible any program i can to match my OS theme. So a million thanks to all that have put so much time and effort and helped so many including me.
