Help with start icon with .msstyles
So i used msstyleEditor and I have these images which match the dimensions of the original: https://imgur.com/a/38J7EkF
I replaced the images located in TaskbarPearl > PEARLICON, and then saved it with MUI, whatever that means. It wouldn't save the normal way.
After I did that, I applied the theme and image just looks wrong.
If I hover on it though, it looks okay:
If I use white instead of pink, it's the same problem:
What could be causing this? I'm very new to this stuff, so I do apologize.

I could be wrong but it may be the transparency of the orb. Changing the default Windows button doesn't always work that well.

Hii..For custom start button It's better to use Startisback or startallback...according to the windows you are using....
As default button doesn't give you the perfect output and only gives you a highlight effect...Last edited by ArdentAA; December 9th, 2023 at 03:09 AM.

Hi KurOshite, as Shem said the Default Pearl won't work properly with Custom themes for some reason its a pain if you dont know, I have tryied many times but it just wont work. The best way to do it is with startisback++ or startallsback by making your own Custom orb and put it in a folder in your theme folder. Use these dimensions to make it with. First you need 3 images one for Normal, one for Hot and one for Pushed. 40pxls x 40pxls each then join them up vertically with the Top for normal, Hot for the middle and Pushed at the bottom so it will now be 40pxls x 120pxls. Then Save it to your Custom Orb folder in your theme folder. Now use the configurations panel for StartisBack++ or StartallsBack and select the + button to add it. Note you can make them a bit wider if you want but as long as there only 40pxls each high they will work fine!
Anyway Welcome to VC Mate if you need any help just send me a message or just reply to this post
Welcome aboard Man!!

This is what is causing your problem, from the msstyleEditor Github site ......
msstyleEditor does not support bmp images, you should really be using Windows Style Builder.
Convert your .bmp start button to a transparent .png .
Create a folder called "Start Button" or "Start Orb" in your theme folder and use StartIsBack (Windows10) or StartAllBack (Windows 11) and call the image from those applications.
For some reason using bmp images in third party themes creates havoc.Last edited by Dark Knight; January 25th, 2024 at 11:57 PM.

I believe in karma which means I can say all the bad things I want to you and just assume that you deserve it.
