G'day mate, sorry to bother you. Ummm I'm having trouble browsing the site, every page is showing with plain text only (to the left) & no tabs or bars like earlier today. This has only been going on for the past half hour & on both ie & firefox. Also, I've tried to post a reply in your Clash of the Titans III thread 3 times in the past 10 hours, I see the message: Your post will be visible once a moderator has approved it, but when I refresh the page it just disappears nowhere to be seen...

Well he was in the wee hours of the morning were he was.. lol We tried many things before we gave up and he reloaded VB, then he had to reinstall all the plug-ins again. Needless to say backing up is high on the list of weekly activities now.:Fright:
But these things are to be expected when getting a site transferred to an entirely different forum type. I am surprised it has gone as well as it has to be honest.

Use that link for now until we get the rest of the of the restore done. http://virtualcustoms.net/ is achieved by settings on the server that allow a website to not have to use the content.php part and Grim hasn't gotten to that part on the server work yet. As you can see in this thread we had a big mess today on the server to fix caused by one of the mods that was added. it should all be back to normal soon.

I get the same result with Firefox 5.01. It is not the fault of my browser it is the fault of this skin.

I suggest you change your windows theme first or Firefox theme if you are running one.

One of many changes in any theme is the Font color.

With each theme there are numerous place where the color can be change to reflect certain parts of any theme, browser included.

It does not matter what theme I use or what Browser I use. It is not my problem. The problem is with this forum's skin.

When I first reported this, the Contact us button on the far left was blacked out. Now it is not. The only one that is blacked out is marked. Fix it or don't fix it. I do not use that box anyway. I just thought that this being a Themed type site, that it should not be flawed.

i see this myself.. are you using resource changer or just sticking the theme in the windows/resource folder and running them with uxtheme service or the like.

Part of the problem that we have here is that members other than staff are replying to this thread. It has been my experience over the many years that I have been a GM is that staff should only reply.

Yea, it's just one of those things you go through converting a site to a new forum type and creating new themes for it. We have several more themes we are doing but just are not turned on and won't be until they're done. But this is theme one and other that keeping the default Vbulletin theme up we have no choice but to work on this one live. It will all be sorted before you know it and you will have several site themes to choose from as well.. :)

when you create a post and choose font color once posted it defaults back to white.

EDIT: just checked and seems to be a problem related to twisted dark, and twisted
dark fixed. arena blue is showing what version it is in the bottom right hand corner.

Just a small update of our progress Grim & JoseyWales have been working hard on getting the skins and layouts for the site all fixed up and it will still be some time before all is perfect. As for me and the other mods that are helping out. We have been working on fixing all the threads on the site. Bringing attachments over from the old site, fixing quotes, post redirects from the old site to the new site, plus adding all the attachments back into the thread post, which is extremely time consuming since this all has to be done manually by us. To give an example of what we have been going thru in doing this process I have had 4 tabs open on my browser at all times. One tab of the current thread i am editing. One of the old site with the with the same thread looking to make sure everything is the same. The third is the old site with the redirect locations on it of the old site. And the forth is the new site searching for the same location of the redirect that the old site is showing so i can copy and paste the new address back into the post that i am currently editing the redirect on. So as you can see it not something we can just flip a switch to fix everything. Plus since our site is all volunteer staffing this means we have life's (work, family,etc.) also so we cannot work on the site 24/7. So it will be some time before everything is back to normal. But rest assured we are working on it and will have it completed as soon as possible for your enjoyment!! Thank Again for visiting our site The Staff of VC

I had to join under another name because the stupid instructions about using your username and password, then login, then get an error to "reset your password" wasn't even there. No matter what I tried I couldn't reset my password. About a week or more ago, I used the Contsct Us link and sent off a question about this issue - I received no reply. It was impossible to transfer the passwords from the old site as they are encrypted by phpBB as they should be and there is no way for them to be transferred to the new forum software so it's nothing to do with bad management, as far as the old site goes, it is still active, have a look on the home page, it's the first section in General, also we have to transfer all the attachments from the old site as well as editing posts, the import can only be performed once to get the bulk of the data across so having the other site still as the main site while that was going would mean hundreds of new registrants and threads and so on would not be transferred to the new site.

I am sorry you have had problems with your account but that is something that can be easily fixed and you have no right to start bitching at us about it, I merged several accounts so far and they could all logon no problems after I had merged them, I merged your old one with the new one yesterday, all you needed to do was use the old user name with the new password you created for the new account and you would have logged in fine.

The staff at VC do all this for free, they also have real lives and jobs and things need to be prioritized, I have been working on the new site for over a month as well sorting out various things, we will get everything sorted but it takes time and you need to be patient.

Try logging on with your old user name and the new password you created for the merged account and if it doesn't work send me a PM with this one and I will set a temp password for it that you can change once you log in.

There seems to be an inconsistency with the color of registered users names. I am a registered user and my color is green while other registered members are an off bluish color. I think that it would be better if all registered users were the same color.

hey i noticed this problem a while ago , so i am gonna post it now: the title(and reason of editing) bar is in black , so is the writing color so we cant see anything that we write. on more problem: when you click on someones name(lets say to send him a private message) the information ,we get a transparant bar which contain the information (like send a private message,add to contact..), the problem is that we cant see well these informations, so could you make its background grey or somthing like that so that it we will be able to see the charachters "that is all for now :shocked::ashamed:

The blue registered users are members with under 10 posts that are still being moderated to prevent spam on the site, once you have made 10 posts you are put into the VC members group and can then post attachments and posts without the need to be moderated.

Something very strange is going on. Either the domain name is renewed or it isn't. About every 2 hours I can't get on unless it takes a long time to filter through the Internets.

yeah I am in the same boat bud, I fixed the problem on mine after doing what the domain registrar suggested and that was to use the Google Public DNS http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html setting up my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 fixed the redirects and the site has been good since then, I imagine it's just not being flushed correctly by our ISP's but this fix seems to be good for now.

Grim, it looks like the data from page 8 on is missing or corrupt. I am guessing that part of it is missing on the server, unless it calls from them on loading the flash games and not us, in that case it would be on their end. I don't have it installed on my site so I don't know the mod.

If you click the thanks button it should be visible it is a new feature with vb that the person posting the material can hide it unless you thank them for it first

Well that is one of the reason we have the like button now along with the thanks button so that it is easier to say thanks or that you like something someone has done. Well the problem the OP had with the hidden content is a simple fact that once you edit the post again for whatever reason it will then require the same person to thank you a second time and not even sure if that is possible to be thanked twice so it's a problem with the mod, I noticed on the OP's screen shot that you had edited the post 2 hours before hand so that's the reason for the problem.

Now as far as requiring thanks to be able to even see the content, I am with Vern on this one, I don't like it, I tried it the first day on a couple of my themes and then removed it again, I still gets heaps of people using the thanks button now without the need to force them to use it and I think that is a much nicer way to have it, I would rather someone thank me out of sincerity then having to force people to say thanks.

Now on to the arcade problem lol I am not sure exactly what the go is with the games but I had a feeling some didn't upload right and was going to try again to upload all the games but after the second time trying and my connection timed out I gave up on it lol, I will try to get back to it but as I see it the site is not about games so it's on the bottom of the list of my priorities right now :smile:

OK I am sure this thread is meant to be for site problems and not a debate about the thanks "mod" but anyway I will explain it again.

The Thanks mod is not part of VB it is a mod that I installed from a 3rd party and I installed it to test the feature out, I have been testing many mods out on the site and I have also removed many of them, I am not trying to dictate to anyone here I am just trying to do what I think is best for the site, I tried the Thanks mod and I do like some of the features, yes it's nice to get thanks for your hard work but I want people to say thanks because they are sincere about it, I don't care about all the people that want to grab and go, why should that bother me?

I don't want a bunch of ass holes saying thanks because they were forced to and then probably bitching about it at other sites (like we used to about the the thanks system at CTX) I still get plenty of thanks for my work and if you think some people don't have enough rep that could also be because after the move all the rep points were lost and no one should have a huge amount of rep right now, if they do then it probably means that people are over using the thanks mod system.

I know for a fact that I now get many more people saying thanks via the thanks system and that is without the need to force anyone to use it, to me forcing someone to say thanks is more like a dictatorship, you should just all be happy that we have the mod and that people who want to say thanks are using it.

Looks like you had a failed attempt at installing the theme, you will need to run ccleaner or if that doesn't work open your temp folder in C:\Users\"Your user name"\AppData\Local\Temp and delete the HUD folder and run the installer again.

If you are still having problems then install Team Viewer and I will give you a hand.

the problem with not being auto subscribed to new threads i reply to stated when the board was changed over. i always have to go to thread tools and subscribe. the pruning does explain what happened to page 12.

actually you're right in the fact that banning a person won't remove that persons post. however on certain threads the answer should of been no. only threads by the person with walls, themes, icons, etc... created and posted for download should of been removed at the persons request.

A longtime member here has left the site for his personal reasons and asked that all his posts be removed now with more then 700+ posts to his name I decided it was better off to just delete all users posts and threads in one swift shot rather then search the entire site to remove 700+ posts manually one at a time a few threads were going to be lost because of this.

I do apologize about the thread having to go for upcoming themes with the removal of posts I had forgotten he had started that thread.

two probs. first all my customization on my profile page disappeared along with the album i created for the background image i used. i have since replaced the album and fixed my settings for my profile page, but it is not being completely skinned with the image i choose for the background. i compared my settings here to those i have on uorevolution and the are the same, so i know it is not something i did wrong in my profile page customization settings. the second thing is that i am no longer getting the email notifications of updates on threads i'm subscribed to. i have checked my settings and they are fine.

ok kind of figured it was something minor on the emails. any idea what happened to my profile pages formatting? everything was reset to the default, and the one album was gone.

The album could have been gone from the database crash but as for it not updating maybe it was just a cache thing that wasn't clearing.

Your activation email should be sent out immediately so if you have not received it and it's not in your junk mail it may just be a problem with that particular email account so you would have to use another email account to receive it. If you have another Email account you can use send me a PM with it in and I will change it to that and resend your activation email.
